Blog Update - SL(2,R) As a Topological Space and Topological Group
SL(2,R) is one of the most important Lie groups, especially in representation theory. In this post however, we study the very basic structure of it using Iwasawa decomposition.
The study of SL(2,R) can be quite complicated, using various kind of tools. In this post, we are only studying the basic structure of it, by showing that SL(2,R) is homeomorphic to the interior of a donut, and see what we can get out of it.
